Tbilisi Funicular (Mtatsminda)

Tbilisi Funicular (Mtatsminda)
Tbilisi Funicular (Mtatsminda) is one of the ways to see Tbilisi from above an old cable railway leading to the top of Mtatsminda Mountain. The first funicular line started operating here back in 1905, and although the technology has been updated, the magic of the ascent remains the same. The carriage smoothly goes up, and from its windows a panorama of the historical center opens up: tiled roofs, the domes of Sioni Cathedral, the winding Kura River, new neighborhoods, and distant mountains on the horizon. At the top, near the base of the TV tower, there is a spacious observation deck. From here, you can see the entire city at a glance. Nearby, there is an amusement park and several cafes. The funicular complex building was constructed in 1938.
