Tbilisi Sports Palace
The Tbilisi Sports Palace is a legendary indoor arena located in the heart of Tbilisi on May 26 Square. Opened in 1961, it was designed by architects Vladimir Aleksi-Meskhishvili, along with Yuri Kasradze, Temo Japaridze, and David Kajaya, and has since become one of the symbols of Georgian sports. The building’s most remarkable feature is its spherical dome, which measures 76 meters in diameter and was considered one of the largest in Europe at the time of construction. It also remains the largest basketball arena across the entire post-Soviet space. Depending on the type of event, the venue can accommodate between 9,000 and 11,000 spectators. The palace regularly hosts basketball, judo, handball, and boxing competitions.
