Zhinvali Reservoir

Zhinvali Water Reservoir is one of Georgia’s most scenic artificial lakes, located on the Aragvi River about 70 km from Tbilisi. It was created following the construction of the Zhinvali Hydroelectric Power Station and is surrounded by the green mountains of the Greater Caucasus. Its turquoise-blue waters, dramatic mountain scenery and winding shoreline make it a popular stop on the road to Kazbegi and other attractions of northern Georgia. Nearby, the famous Ananuri Fortress offers spectacular views over the reservoir and surrounding landscape.
