There are 12 regions in Georgia, including the capital Tbilisi, as a separate region. Each of them has unique cultural traditions, natural features and plays a role in the country's economy. The regions include 67 municipalities, as well as 6 self-governing cities.

Abkhazia

Adjara

The leading wine-growing region of Georgia, famous for its traditional winemaking methods and picturesque landscapes.

Municipalities: Sagarejo, Telavi, Sighnaghi, Gurjaani, Akhmeta, Dedoplistskaro, Kvareli, Lagodekhi.

Imereti

A region with a rich historical heritage, numerous architectural monuments and natural resources.

Municipalities: Kutaisi, Zestafoni, Samtredia, Terjola, Baghdati, Vani, Kharagauli, Chiatura, Sachkhere, Tskaltubo, Tkibuli.

Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti

A unique area combining the distinctive highland culture of Svaneti with the picturesque landscapes of Megrelia.

Municipalities: Zugdidi, Mestia, Senake, Hobi, Abasha, Tsalenjikha, Chkhorotsku, Martvili.

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti

It is a sparsely populated region known for its mountain resorts, vineyards and rich natural resources.

Municipalities: Oni, Ambrolauri, Lentekhi, Tsageri.

Mtskheta-Mtianeti

The historical heart of the country with ancient monasteries, mountain landscapes and significant cultural heritage.

Municipalities: Mtskheta, Kazbegi, Dusheti, Tianeti.

Shida Kartli

The central region, specializing in agriculture and has many historical sites.

Municipalities: Gori, Kareli, Khashuri, Kaspi, Javi.

Kvemo Kartli

A region with developed industry and intensive agriculture.

Municipalities: Rustavi, Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Gardabani, Marneuli, Tsalka, Tetritskaro.

Samtskhe-Javakheti

A mountainous region characterized by ethnic diversity, cultural identity, and natural attractions.

Municipalities: Akhaltsikhe, Borjomi, Ninotsminda, Aspindza, Akhalkalaki, Adigeni.

Guria

The smallest region in terms of area, famous for tea plantations and traditional cuisine.

Municipalities: Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti, Chokhatauri.

Each of the regions makes an important contribution to the economy, culture and natural diversity of Georgia, forming a unique image of the country.
