Description
The Georgian Arts Palace is one of the most extraordinary and romantic landmarks of Tbilisi. It is the only museum in the capital located in a 19th-century palace. The building was constructed in 1895 according to the design of architect Paul Stern and uniquely combines Gothic and Oriental motifs. It is associated with a legend about the love of the German prince Konstantin of Oldenburg, who built this palace for his beloved, Georgian princess Agrafina. Because of this story, it is also called the "one-night palace." Today, the State Museum of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography is housed there. Its collections contain over 300,000 exhibits: Persian miniatures, musical scores, rare manuscripts, stage costumes, and works by Niko Pirosmani.
