Tbilisoba City Day Program: What Visitors Can Expect

The Tbilisoba program may vary slightly from year to year, but the main events and traditions generally remain the same. Visitors can look forward to a rich cultural and entertainment program:

  • Concerts and musical performances — folk groups, traditional ensembles, and well-known Georgian performers take the stage at the festival’s main venues.
  • Traditional craft fairs — local artisans demonstrate traditional techniques for making ceramics, jewelry, carpets, metalwork, and other handmade souvenirs, many of which can also be purchased on site.
  • Traditional Georgian dances — spectacular performances by Georgian dance groups introduce visitors to the country’s rich cultural heritage. Special attention is given to traditional dances such as Kartuli, Khorumi, and other dances performed in authentic Georgian national costumes.
  • Georgian cuisine — festival venues offer visitors the opportunity to taste popular Georgian dishes and street-food specialties, including khinkali, barbecue, khachapuri, churchkhela, and freshly baked tonis puri, traditional Georgian bread prepared in a clay oven.
  • Rtveli — the grape harvest — one of the most colorful and memorable parts of the grape celebration. Participants harvest grapes, take part in traditional grape pressing, discover the traditions of Georgian winemaking, and taste young wine and chacha.
  • Evening show and fireworks — the festive day often concludes with a spectacular fireworks display. The fireworks illuminate the evening sky above the Mtkvari River, creating an impressive and memorable finale to the festival program.
